IN THE NAME OF GOD

the tragedy must end!

Right across South Africa, thousands of children are being coerced and manipulated into sex, trafficked by families to provide food, raped by "sugar daddies" in exchange for material "blessings", or simply duped by older boys. There is a nationwide epidemic of teen and pre-teen pregnancy, with vulnerable mothers-to-be rejected by parents, unable to continue their education, and frequently driven to abandon their newborn babies, or suicide.

For Root and Branch Change, this is a challenge we cannot ignore. Why? Because whilst many have given up hope, we know that God will never give up and offers complete restoration, healing, compassion and a truly abundant life.

 Bringing Order from Chaos

 Vision Statement
A South Africa where every child and adolescent is empowered to make informed and positive decisions about their future, free from the pressures of premature sexual activity and the constraints of pregnancy and child care, being supported to reach their full potential as people made in the image of God.

Mission Statement
We strive to end the devastation of pregnancy in children and adolescents in Munsieville and beyond by working with partners to develop and provide creative resources, comprehensive educational opportunities and effective support to young people to empower them to make informed and positive decisions about their futures. Our mission includes the support of adolescents and teenagers who are pregnant and those who are mothers, to be the best parents they can be, ensuring a brighter future for themselves and their children through access to education, healthcare and spiritual, social and emotional support.

One Mission in Three Parts â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

GA O NOSI PART ONE: CRISIS CARE
Ideally, we’d like to start with prevention. Sadly, for some, prevention strategies have come too late. And for many, a positive pregnancy test is a cause of sheer terror. All too often, young girls in our community are facing utter bewilderment - not knowing how they can navigate the challenging journey ahead. Many experience a mental health crisis. Some have taken their own lives.

The GA O NOSI LOUNGE at Munsieville's Hope Park is there for anyone in that state of shock and panic, offering maximum support from a dedicated team with no judging  or condemnation. They will be available to walk that difficult road with the young woman, aiming to empower her with information so she can explore her options, helping to rebuild confidence and assurance that their condition is not the end of life as they know it, but a new beginning.

GA O NOSI PART TWO: SISTERS IN MOTHERHOOD

When an adolescent or teenager gives birth, they need immediate and ongoing support to take care of their baby and themselves. Sisters in Motherhood is a vibrant club offering vital parenting skills through an affirming, fun-filled curriculum covering every aspect of mother-and-child development and providing a open gateway to a host of other important services from partner organisations. Sisters in Motherhood is committed to empower members to be the best mothers they can possibly be, giving their babies the very best start in life.

There are four  levels of membership, where members start with the basics, progressing to "Gold Membership" where they are encouraged to explore advanced parenting techniques. Then, if they wish to take things further, they can become "Platinum Membership", equipping them to deliver the curriculum to other young mums, and become Ga O Nosi Mentors, supporting those just beginning their parenting journey. Alongside skills training on all aspects of child development and mother care, there is also a dynamic spiritual dimension where members can explore and develop their understanding of God's wonderful plans for them and their babies.

GA O NOSI PART THREE: PREVENTION OF UNWANTED, UNPLANNED TEEN AND PRE-TEEN PREGNANCY

In the future, prevention of premature sexual activity and adolescent pregnancy will be our top priority. We are currently forming a multi-facetted task-force, including young people, those working closely with young people, churches, academic institutions and communication professionals to help develop winning strategies and world-class tools and resources to overcome the crisis unfolding right across South Africa.
