The young people of Munsieville township are pretty excited right now! In a few days time, 23 of their contemporaries from the UK, along with eight leaders, will be joining them to support the transforming vital youthwork in their troubled community, and to help people beset by poverty as they try to raise children in flimsy shack homes to keep them safe from the home-based risks that claim lives every year.
The UK team has been working for well over a year to raise money for their travel, board and accommodation, and for materials needed to help the community. They know that they are heading into culture shock on steroids, but they are ready and eager to overcome hurdles to make a lasting difference to the lives of others, and themselves.
On Saturday 7 September, there will be a big celebration event, and YOU are invited. It will be at St Mary's Church, Church Street, Chesham, HP5 1HY and it's FREE! There will be live music, interviews, impact reports, awards, a virtual tour of the new youth centre being commissioned during the July mission, and the premiere of a short film plotting the July Mission. It all kicks off at 7.30pm, but if you get there from 6.45pm, you can enjoy complementary wine and canapés.
