Agapanthus, often called "Lily of the Nile" or "African Lily" (which is a little odd, because they an not lilies and originate from the mountains of South Africa, nowhere close to the Nile!), is one of the easiest perennials to grow, requiring just a little mainenance and being drought and pest resistant. They make perfect, and dramatic statement plants, especially when growing in large, rustic terracotta pots, or in a mixed border. This specimen plant was grown in the UK from seeds harvested in the world-famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, Cape Town.
